Through the recommendation of a bass player me and eight women ventured into York on Friday night to watch a production of the Full Monty. Not really knowing what to expect from the musical ( I have seen the film so I knew the rough plotline) I was quite surprised to find that it had been set in America. An interesting change to the original film. This didn't seem to affect the story line although the accents did seem to disappear some what when the songs started. The songs were mostly enjoyable with two very good singers the 'fat bastard' had a great voice and his wife also. The character of the women with accompanied them on the piano was fantastic. So similar to Julie Walters that it made me laugh so much. Although,after some of my friends had over heard a conversation in the toilets that they had come thinking the show was just a continuous strip show, the show qanat the best musical around I don't think it ever set out to be.
