Signing and sighing

Image
Been a strange start to the week. Bit of a come down form last week's inspection and yet the work still seems to be piling on. Mixed couple of days as well. Just back from signing tonight, been there since seven. We all had really good conversations tonight. I like it when it becomes more of a discussion rather than a lesson. Don't get me wrong, I love learning new signs for new vocabulary, but I just prefer it when we are using in in conversation. Really helps me with the word order and the facial expressions. Can't really believe that the first level will soon be over, need to find someone to practice with over the holidays before I hopefully start my level two in September. That's the signing over and done with. The sighing is to do with my cat, Tosca, sad to say that after taking her to the vets, the future doesn't look too good. Her abdomen is filling up with liquid and this is probably due to organ failure or a tumour. She is, at this moment, very happy, and t...

I'm Back

Well, I'm a couple of days late, but I am back to blogging, and going to continue to make a conscious effort to improve and gain more followers. I'm thinking hard about my audio blog and have spent some time today listening to what others actually record in an attempt for some inspiration. I think I need to let my mind have a bit of a break, after the inspection to allow the minute creative part that I have come back to life. So if you like this is just another quickie before the main blogging starts again tomorrow ... sorry if you were looking forward to tonight's content. Anyway, off to have an early night ready for a new week starting tomorrow. Have fun!

Any truth in this?

Found this on a forum. Is there any truth in it? Can you imagine working for a company that has a little more than 600 employees and has the following employee statistics. 29 have been accused of spouse abuse 7 have been arrested for fraud 9 have been accused of writing bad cheque's 17 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses 3 have done time for assault 71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit 14 have been arrested on drug-related charges 8 have been arrested for shoplifting 21 are currently defendants in lawsuits 84 have been arrested for drink driving in the last year (totals 416 out of 600 plus) Which organisation is this ? It's the 635 members of the House of Commons, the same group that cranks out hundreds of new laws each year designed to keep the rest of us inline.

Just a quickie!

Well I am not going to talk for long tonight, mainly because I am tired and been working hard ready for the shortly arriving inspection. Things are going well and I hope to be back to seriously blogging by Friday night. Anyway, don't forget to have fun, I certainly am :)

What a nice surprise!

Well, there I was sat in the opening meeting of the day and we get the wonderful call that we are getting OFSTEDed what I lovely start to the term! Anyway, it will be good to get it over and done with and then we can enjoy the rest of the time. However, its not inspections that I want to talk about today....its....getting old! Society has certainly changed throughout the year and I do put the advancements of technology as a series reason for these changes. Age was always a valuable and respectable attribute in the past. Ancient leaders were the sort of people that would lead and advice tribes of people, acting on the year of knowledge that they held in their minds. I do feel that nowadays, age is somewhat of a hated attributed rather than something that should be treasured and enjoyed. The number of people that I hear exclaiming that they are getting older and don't want to mention their age or just that they hate getting older. Why is this? Many of you know that I am 42, and I mus...

Its nearly over

Well two weeks of a holiday seems to have flown by and now I am just getting ready to go back to work tomorrow. Clothes are ironed and bags are packed already for the early start tomorrow. It always amazes me how much you actually can pack into the two weeks when you put your mind to it, and it is only when you look back and begin to actually count up what you have achieved that you realise. I never think you should wish your life away by thinking there is only another five weeks to the next holiday etc, but I think it is always wise as well as looking back on what you have achieved its worth looking forward to what is ahead. Looking to see where opportunity might strike and whether or not we will be ready to accept it. No doubt there will be fun times during the next term times when we laugh and times that we will treasure. Just as there will be times when we are angry and times when we are sad. All these come together to create a rich tapestry of life. One think I have noticed over ...

A meadow full of people

Image
I know I seem to have been blogging about flowers for the past few days, but I had a sudden thought on the way to meeting my bezzy today that sort of like stuck in my head for a while, so I thought it would be a good time to write it down. Along the side of the path where I walk are a few fields. Some have cows in them, others are just left for meadow. It was a lovely sunny day and the flowers had started to bloom in the meadows (This is beginning to sound like the opening of a children's story!) It was then that I realised how much the meadow was like a community of people. The majority of us are grass.(And I include myself in the grass group). Nothing special, just grass, plenty of us and we grow well and do our jobs and enjoy sitting in the field being grass. Some other people are slightly different, but not much and they grow together in little patches called clover. Very similar to the grass, but slightly different as well. Some of the grass looks a bit different too. Some gr...

Woodlice covered logs

It always seems amazing to me how quick holidays go. Just under two weeks ago I was thinking wow, I have two weeks off to enjoy life and now here I am sat thinking, oh no I have only two days of my holiday left, just as my sleep pattern suddenly settles down and I stop waking up at 5am every morning! Often I don't have anything really interesting to say in these blogs and when this happens they become a list o the days events, punctuated by some idle chit chat. The day started well, launching myself into playing WoW (World of Warcraft) for a few hours, after having breakfast. I was then meant to get some work done, but in the end I ended up cleaning and washing and sorting out after the cat. She is getting old now and to be honest its almost a full time job to keep her going. She also often requires plenty of attention and loves to just sit and be close to me This afternoon I went with my sister to help her move some logs around in her wildlife area. You might know that I am not th...

A classic!

Image
To start of with the toilet cistern decided to leak all over the carpet last night so when I woke up after yanking the carpet back I had to call the trust to get them to come and sort it out. At the same time my new classic ipod arrived at my mum's house...Already synchronised this and charged it, really looking forward to using it. The nicest thing is that I have the chance now to download all my audio books onto it, rather than having to create a separate playlist for them, plus my vids can go down to them as well. The last thing I would like is to organise how to get vids from YouTube onto it, if thats possible, mainly because I would to be able to show them when chatting to my bezzy in starbucks and I refuse to pay the tmobile connection fee! Sadly I can't view them on my iphone. Anyway the cistern is sorted and the ipod is safely in its case ready for future use. The other good piece of news was that I managed to get my own domain up and working again, after some frantic...

Signing not singing

Anyone who knows me at all will know that I am currently learning BSL (British Sign Language) one night a week at the local college. I'm really enjoy this and at present I have passed the first two exams and take the last one in about five weeks time, after which I will hopefully achieve my level one qualification in BSL. I thought it would be a good idea to actually give you some insight into why I was doing the course and how I was getting along. About two years ago a met a very good friend of mine ,Luke, who is deaf. We had a great day in York and communication wasn't a problem at all, but I did feel that this was all due to Luke having the skills to talk and to lip read, rather than using his first language of BSL. Because I this I felt that it was time to start to learn sign language so that in future I could actually communicate with him in his first language. Someone once said to me that if every could sign that deafness would not be a disability. Whether this is true or...

Better out than in!

Image
Spent some time with friends today, sat chilling in a starbucks, really nice to just sit and chat and forget about the cares of the world. Then home for some salad, and then out for a walk to another starbucks for a cuppa and a sandwich...does this mean I am addicted? Finished the Twilight book today, which I enjoyed and started a new book called Deception Point, by Dan Brown. Interesting so far. I really do love audio books, mainly because I can actually multitask while reading them, either in the car or walking somewhere. Throughout the holidays I always try to use the car as little as I possibly can, in my vain attempt to save some of the planet's resources. Walking and listening can be very relaxing and sometimes I often just walk round on a circuit in order to listen to a book or a podcast. There was a time in the past (some of you might remember it) when I would never even contemplate leaving the house, unless it was literally a do or die situation. Please to say those days h...

The realms of blogging

Its been such a lovely day today, nice and bright and sunny in the morning, and cool and grey in the afternoon. A nice mixture. Went for a nice walk to starbucks this afternoon and sat with a venti earl grey tea and read two iCreate magazines, well I didn't read them properly I just did the first glance though, marking things down on Evernote so I can access later what I will be interested in reading. Been spending the day catching up on blog posts and yet again examining people's styles and how they are created. Being a very visual person, I like to learn visually so I am always on the look out for video tutorials to aid me in my understanding of things. I naturally therefore enjoy watching video blogs, or podcasts. Written blogs seem to be more of a strain to read at times. It appears that many people seem to blog in different ways and have multiple styles to their blogging, while some people just seem to use one style that they enjoy and feel that they can manage. There are ...

Have we really got talent?

Image
Well Easter has come and gone, although despite what the Archbishop of York would like, it still hasn't got the status of Christmas day. Had a nice lunch with my family at my mother's house, all was great, although I wasn't that keen on my brother's cherry cola! Anyway, the thing that I really wanted to blog about today was last night's Britain's Got Talent. I always think this show is like the X-Factor in the sense that the best bits are the shows leading up to the competition when you see all the funny and silly acts that never ever would have a chance of getting somewhere. It was because of this that I started to watch last night and what a shock I got. The family singers were good with the boy singer being absolutely excellent. But the act that really got my attention was Susan Boyle . The show definitely built her up to be a funny performer and everything about her meant that we all, apart from the people like Simon who said he knew she was going to be g...

Booers and Ooers

Image
Well here it is another blog, not living up to the blog every day in April but doing my best to keep things moving along. Recommended Twilight to my bezzy today and she bought it and watched it and thought, like me, that it was fantastic. Really like the film although I do feel that the book covers the whole story in more depth, which I assume is the role of a book. Really like the baseball game in both, but the character development and description is much better in the book. Been busy using Audiboo today as well, trying to decide what I am going to use it for and how often I will use it. It seems to be one of these things that you need to have an idea for it and then stick with it, a bit like bloggin. I spent some time watching different blogs on YouTube and got some ideas, although I will never understand how some people on there can become so famous! It must be pure charisma, no chance of me being on youtube, unless its signing in the background or in a little bubble for someone. ...

This is the tomorrow that is should have blogged yesterday

Well I guess this a day behind now, since I should have blogged yesterday, but to be honest, it was late last night and I was too tired to do anything, so I just went to bed. I did wake up in the middle of the night though when a box fell off and made such a clatter, nearly died I tell you! Yesterday was a good day, I went shopping with a friend and was amused by the number of shops that all seem to be selling the same thing at different prices. I do wonder how much these clothes actually cost to produce, since the shops were still offering like 80% off and that still but the shirts at like £30 quid. I wonder does anyone actually buy anything at the original price nowadays? I tend to like certain shops, which are not to everyone's tastes, but suit both my clothes taste and my body size. I like NEXT clothes and then other high street stores such as top man etc. I like my clothes to be plain but with some uniqueness about them. I am not really one for brand names pasted across the fr...

Bogged down in Blogging

Well I've just had a quick look around the shops and I've now settled down at the back of starbucks so I can view the passing crowd and type my blog. Just to give you a quick update, I watched Twilight last night on DVD, and I must admit (probably to the delight of my bezzy) I wish I had finished listening to the book before I watched the DVD ! Anyway, really enjoyed the film. Thought it was very enjoyable, I plan to write a bit of a review later I think in order to express my honest opinions. As I trawled through my twitter feed this morning, I noticed that Boagworld had joined a three minute audio blogging site. It would appear that you have three minutes to say something interesting and then its posted onto their site for everyone to see or should I say hear. It has a nice iphone app that allows you to record it (which is free!) and appears to be simple to use and works well, although I still haven't seen my followed by chavs blog on the site yet! It did get me wonderin...

Twilight Tuesday

Image
Well it's sat here waiting to be watched. The Twilight DVD and to be honest I don't I will be waiting to finish the book the before I watch the DVD. As a matter of fact, as soon as I have finished this I am off to watch it! Got quite a bit of work done today which is pleasing as well as nearly finishing the mountain of washing that needed to be done from the weekend, after the broken washer. There was a nice walk to meet with my bezzy and her sproggs (kids) for a cuppa and a nice piece of fruit toast, yummy! Piles on the calories though. As I walked there I saw a little frog/toad in the middle of the pavement I carefully encouraged it back to the grass and twittered it using also the nice map pin function with Tweetie from my iphone which I hadn't used before. As I walked back I was suddenly quite dismayed because I could see the lawnmower had been round and had cut the grass along the side of the path. SHOCK. The sudden realisation was that I might have, in my attempt to s...

I love being on holiday, as do we all. The only thing I hate is the fact that I still wake up at the crack of dawn (5am) despite staying up to midnight. It will take a while for my body to adjust and to beginning to sleep better, which will probably be the day before I go back to work. Until then, I am getting quite a bit done, due to the extra hours! Had to stay in this morning to wait for the washer man to come and fix my washer! What a hightlight that was, but I am pleased to report that everything is going smoothly again and I have managed to make a serious dent in the dirty washing mountain that had started to appear in the bathroom. The afternoon involved a quick walk to Starbucks for a cuppa and a sandwich and a walk back in the rain!. Although it was a good chilling session and I managed to buy Twilight and iCreate magazine while I was up there. The major decision at the minute is whether to finish listening to the audio book before I watch the DVD or to just ditch the book and...

Internet Stuff

I really can't believe how much I have packed into one evening tonight. I guess it all must of started from the fact that my inwils.co.uk site is down, and despite several emails to the guys that host the site, it is still down. So not to be put off I am in the process of moving things back to my first wordpress account. During this process I got to listening to the you tube video of charlieissocool . After spending some time with my bezzy listening to the broadcasts, especially the purple man one! (wow my favourite colour) and the best friend one, I added him to my twitter account and found out that he was doing a live broadcast on BlogTV tonight. I thought it might be an idea to give this a watch so I signed up and started to watch and listen. It was while I was watching this that I found out that today was Earth Hour , when you are meant to turn your devices off for an hour, which I duely did, (nothing like trying to save some of the world) Finally, as I listened, I heard about...
