Would you seriously skydive?

Just been watching TV with the Osborne's as part of their adrenaline junkie series, them all doing daring feats, including Ozzie and Sharon. One of the challenges was to sky dive out of a plane and fall to the ground with the aid of the a parachute. Ofcourse Jack was well up for it and went sailing dow to Earth with extreme grace. Ozzie and Sharon, rather sensibly I might add, excluded themselves from the jump.

I must say I would have joined them, keeping my feet firmly on the ground and not even venturing up in the plane. I have often wondered why people do things like Bungee jumping or skydiving. I am a total wuss when it comes to such things. I know quite definitely that my brain is wired up in such a way as I analyse all the possible outcomes rather quickly, and quite naturally come up with the answer that throwing oneself out a plane is not the most sensible thing in the world. I also apply this thinking to anything that has any remote sort of danger, such as rock climbing, fair ground rides and even climbing a ladder!

Many people reading this will be shouting at the screen about the thrill of life and living life on the edge. But I have yet to find the confidence or perhaps bravery is a better word to actually do anything daring. I think the only time that my adrenaline actually flows is when situations at work need to be tackled or events need to be planned or organised. Frequently my friends will ask me, are you excited about next week? are you looking forward to going out tonight? and always the answer is along the lines that I don't really get excited about things any more. It sounds rather boring, and I do always have an enjoyable time when going out, but it is never something I really look forward to and get excited about.

Presenting your emotions can often be a dangerous activity in itself. Getting excited about something can often lead to disappointment when the experience doesnt live up to your original perceptions. I think this is why I rarely get excited about things. If you have no expectations of situations then anything that happens can only be a surprise, whether it is a good or bad surprise would ofcourse be undetermined. However not allowing myself to have expectations does allow me to judge the experience on its own values and not any that I have created before hand.

Anyway....would you skydive? seriously I am not talking to you keen adventure people who would sail across the channel in a large wide fitting shoe, I am asking the people who for want of a better word, just get their thrills from opening presents on Christmas morning. Would you seriously skydive?

Have fun!
