Living in the country
Well its been a while since I have blogged anything at all, but that doesn't mean that I haven't been around. As always I have been twittering and yet again, trying to sort y webpage out. With six weeks of holiday before me I am going to have a real good go at achieving this though, so watch this space!
I had been given the wonderful task of looking after my sister's house while she and my mum were away in Scotland. This only meant paying a few visits up there to make sure the fish weren't rotting in the tank and to make sure the kitchen wasn't flooded. She lives out in the country, about twenty minutes drive from York itself, or well my house, and I must say I have never really been a countryside lover. However, when I drove out last Saturday, I was really impressed. The sun was shining, and there was a soft breeze blowing. As I drove out there, the noise of the city slowly left my ears and I was suddenly aware of the fresh air and the closeness of nature. Despite being a regimented city lad, I suddenly started to feel that life in the country might actually be quite nice. I know i was shocked as well, but it was short lived, when I started to think of the narrow, curvy roads covered with ice and snow, and the long drive in and out of York.
Not to totally disregard the countryside all together, I have decided that when I win the lottery I am going to have a country home...not big, but just somewhere in the countryside, so I can live there during the summer and then return to the city during winter. Of course, both places would have to have excellent broadband connection! I could never live in the countryside without all the modern cons...including the internet.
