Teaching?
You might know this already but my chosen profession is a teacher. Yes I know what you are thinking. It will probably have something to do with to do with working only nine to three and having long holidays and spending the day talking to children.
I've just watched a TV programme which was called, I think, Playing the role? or taking on the role. It was a great programme. It was based on the actress Denise Welch who plays a role in Waterloo Road, taking on the role of an English teacher in a secondary school. Many times you see programmes like this, the person is shielded from the reality of the job. But I was really pleased that the producers exposed poor Denise to the full extend of the teacher's job. Not just the teaching but the meetings and the inspections and the criticisms.
I was impressed how well Denise coped with the children and the job. The way she interacted with the children was admirable, she related so well with all the children, especially the special needs group.
At the end of the experience I think she had a really good understanding of what is involved in the teaching profession. Perhaps the programme will have given people an insight into the teaching profession for better or worse.
Anyway, that's all. Have fun!
